About Enchantress
Amora the Enchantress is one of Marvel's most formidable Asgardian villains, a sorceress of staggering power whose beauty is matched only by her ruthlessness. Making her debut in Journey into Mystery #103 (1964) — a landmark issue that every serious Silver Age Marvel collector keeps on their radar — Amora was introduced as a seductive schemer dispatched by Odin himself to destroy Thor. That first appearance established her as a manipulator without equal, wielding both devastating magic and an almost supernatural ability to bend the will of gods, monsters, and men alike. The issue is a genuine Bronze-era grail, and high-grade copies command serious attention on the collector market.
Amora's power set is virtually unrivaled among Asgardian characters. Beyond her legendary pheromone-driven enchantments and hypnotic kisses, she commands sorcery on a near-cosmic scale — from reality manipulation and dimensional travel to necromancy and astral projection. She is also inextricably tied to the brutish Skurge the Executioner, whose tragic devotion to her culminated in one of Marvel's most celebrated sequences during Walt Simonson's legendary Thor run in the 1980s. That era of Thor comics, particularly issues leading through the Casket of Ancient Winters and Surtur sagas, features Enchantress prominently and represents some of the most collectible Thor material ever printed.
Enchantress has worn many masks across decades of Marvel storytelling. She has terrorized the Avengers as a founding member of the Masters of Evil, clashed with the Lady Liberators, and taken on aliases ranging from Helen Eve to Valkyrie herself. Her appearances span team books, limited series, and crossover events, including notable stints alongside the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants and the Dark Council. The character received renewed spotlight during the A-Force era and various Secret Wars tie-ins, introducing her to a new generation of readers while deepening her mythology for longtime fans.
For collectors, Enchantress represents the best of what Marvel's Silver and Bronze Ages produced — a villain with genuine menace, rich lore, and a publication history that touches virtually every corner of the Marvel Universe. Whether you are hunting down that first-appearance copy of Journey into Mystery #103, chasing Simonson-era Thor keys, or building out a complete Masters of Evil run, Amora's footprint across the hobby is enormous. Her books are consistently sought after, and as the Marvel Cinematic Universe continues expanding its Asgardian mythology, collector interest in her key issues shows no signs of cooling.
