About Morlun
Morlun is one of the most terrifying predators in Marvel Comics, an ancient and virtually unstoppable hunter who feeds on the life force of spider-totems across the multiverse. First appearing in The Amazing Spider-Man #30 (vol. 2, 2001) — written by J. Michael Straczynski with art by John Romita Jr. — Morlun immediately established himself as a physical threat unlike anything Peter Parker had faced before. That debut issue is a cornerstone key for modern Spider-Man collectors, kicking off the landmark "Coming Home" arc that redefined Spider-Man's mythology by connecting his powers to totemic animal magic.
Morlun belongs to a family of interdimensional vampires known as the Inheritors, beings who have hunted spider-totems across countless realities for millennia. His terrifying combination of superhuman strength, speed, near-invulnerability, and the ability to drain a target's life force makes him nearly impossible to defeat through conventional means. His first confrontation with Peter Parker pushed Spider-Man to absolute physical and emotional limits, resulting in some of the most brutal and visceral fight scenes in the character's history. The story also introduced his servant Ezekiel, adding layers of mystery to the spider-totem mythology that would pay off for years.
Morlun returned in the pages of The Amazing Spider-Man during the controversial "The Other: Evolve or Die" crossover event, where he killed Peter Parker in a shocking sequence that remains one of the most talked-about moments in 2000s Marvel history. His biggest stage, however, came with the massive 2014–2015 event "Spider-Verse," where Morlun and the Inheritors hunted spider-powered heroes across the entire multiverse. Spanning titles including The Amazing Spider-Man, Spider-Verse, and numerous tie-in series, this storyline united virtually every Spider-Man variant in existence and is considered one of the definitive modern Spider-Man events.
For collectors, Morlun's key issues represent some of the most rewarding targets in the modern era. The Amazing Spider-Man #30 (2001) is the must-have first appearance — values have steadily climbed as his profile rose through Spider-Verse and its animated and live-action adaptations. Tie-in issues from "The Other" crossover and the complete "Spider-Verse" run are equally desirable. With the multiverse now central to the Spider-Man franchise across all media, Morlun's collectible footprint is only expected to grow.
